My field of interests is low carbon economy with special emphasis on countries with economies in transition, EU accession candidates and the new Member States. The focus of my research is the development of macroeconomic models for carbon intensity management of these countries, stimulating their competitiveness and meeting international targets for controlling the process of climate change. In 2002 I developed my first research work in this area, which I successfully defended as my Мaster’s project for a Master’s Degree in Finance, entitled “Financial Instruments to regulate the status of global public goods (the Kyoto Protocol example)”. Ph.D. Disertation title: “Macroeconomic regulation of carbon intensity” (Focus: Bulgaria, new EU-Member States and Transition Economies).

Over the past ten years I devoted my attention to this problem through various publications and projects and participations in UNFCCC and the Commission on Sustainable Development at the United Nations as member to the official Bulgarian Governmental Delegations.

I also remain involved in several research projects related to the analysis of various aspects of sustainable development, which are mainly focused on green energy, waste management, water and natural resources and the links between the concept of sustainable development and the factors underlying the structural crises.

The third direction of my research is focused on institutional economics. In this respect, my research is focused on the defects of the regulatory environment, improper structure of institutions and their impact on the normal functioning of the market.

I would like to express my gratitude to the University for National and World Economy for the provided opportunity to be a part of its esteemed research team..
